Does anyone nkow what difference it makes where you put a fin in the fin box. eg at the front or right at the back?

Further back will make the board feel stiffer.

I think further back is more drivey and farther up is looser. It could be different for longboards.

i thought that further back it gave you more stability and at the front it was faster turning

i think its the further back it is creates more drag so u move it back on big waves, and the further forward the less drag so u move quicker

Waiting to take Jethrodog to the vet, fell on some ice, now he is limping on his front leg, think it might be broken. Poor bugger.

Good news. Or at least better news. Just some pulled tendons. Should be back up and around by friday. May have to wear a cast for 3 days though. Will have to get some pics of that. :D

Further towards nose looser/easier to turn.
Further towards tail stiffer/better tracking.

So yeah, on bigger waves you generally have it back further. This will aid in stability and maintaining your line. On smaller waves you can move it up for more performance surfing. For nose riding; I like to have it in the back.

Oh, and England longboarder; you could post the same question in different locations to get you more answers. :yearght:
