Yeah - I'd go with anything over 9-6, given your height.

It depends on what you want to end up riding, your age, your general ability and how much time you'll devote to surfing.

Assuming you want to take up the beautiful art of longboarding anything from 9'6" and 2 3/4" thick should see you right.

If you want to tear a new hole for the wave you'll want to start off shorter and ge5t progressively shorter as you skill improves. A guess based on what you've already said is perhaps 8'0" long.

Just my opinion, your mileage may vary.

He's a big guy. He talks loud.

But seriously.. no one's being touchy - just winding you up for using all caps. Standard operating protocol.

BECAUSE USUALLY ITS MY AUNT WHO DOESNT USE THE COMPUTER VERY MUCH BUT SENDS ME THESE EMAILS SAYING HOW BILL GATES IS GIVING AWAY A TON OF MONEY THAT USES ALL CAPS ALL THE TIME.

I have a buddy that weighs about 280 pounds, he can ride anything, I watched him catch a short ride on 2' waves in the shorepound on a 6'0 once.

So when it comes time, balance and paddling is all that matters, but right now, try balancing on a 10'0+ first.
