i've been surfing for about a year now and i'm looking to get a long board since most of my friends long board. i'm 5'10", 160 lbs athletic. i started on a 7'6" fun board in sept 05, and am now riding a 6' for the past 6 months. i'm looking for a board that is very responsive, i've riden three long boards, am 8'6" and a 9'6" that were both really thick, and had the hardest time turning them, they are probubly 3" thick, then i tried a 9' that is probubly half as thick and it was carving great. i also want something that i can walk the nose on, something that i can realy play with. if you could give me an idea of dimentions, tail shape, and any other little things i should be looking for. thanks

i know it is strange, but if your still learing, the board wil probably get batterd, so go for a bic,

its cheaper, more durable, and the one i will show you is very responsive, when i ride mine from the tail, its almost like a shortboard, but have riden the noes on this board, i just have to change the fin set up to a single big fin.

iv got the limited edition coulor, but to be ohnist, its not worhth spending 400 pounds on your first longboard, as i will garentee you will drop it at one point.

Sounds like you what two different kinds of boards.
1) a light weight, thruster, high preformance longboard.
2) a heavy, single fin, nose rider.

Seems like you would be happier with option 1 IMO. You could still probably walk the nose some...

I think it's a matter of you learning to use your weight as well as the configuration of the board itself. I'd probably recommend a slightly beefy board, with moderate rocker, a rounded nose and a pintail. If you're just switching over from a Shortboard and haven't really had the opportunity of learning a Longboard, give yourself a little time. See if you can borrow your brah's and take it for spin. You'll have to get used to the idea that you don't just shift your weight on your feet, you move your feet to gain optimum performance. This will come over time.

See you in the lineup!
