Why do you like this so much?

Somehow I find the whole idea of longboarding so much more attractive than shortboarding.

I picked this up right away.

There seems a special kind of grace and beauty in one longlong ride on a huge plank..

And any guy who can rip on a log is soo much hotter than one on a short board.. somehow... why why I wonder?

What attracts YOU so much to this sport? :?:

I think longboarding looks very relaxing and a lot of fun. I would love to own a longboard but they cost too much for me so I shortboard. I do love watching people ride waves on a longboard, Big Wednesday makes it look so much fun!
I cant explain what it is about longboarding but theres a sort of classic chilled out coolness about it.

Actually I get huge thrills (in a good way) watching shortboarders too... such an atheletic endeavour!

They look like they are having such an intense and energetic fun time just turning, chopping, hitting lip, cool quick turns... you know. It's a lot of fun to watch.

Their rides seem so short tho compared to longboarding. Maybe that's why it's called shortboarding?! :D :D Longboarders have a much longer sweeter ride??

Sorry to get seedy but I wonder if there may be a correlation between your surf style preference and your 'bedtime sports hour antics' as well?

:D

Like, do you enjoy the sweet long haul or just a bit of wham bam? Or maybe like Taylor Jensen and other progressive style surfers you like a bit of both? Best of both worlds! Isn't that just greedy??

Ok maybe I should just let that one go.

I'm so sorry you guys. Delete at will. :D :D :D

Both look awsome and appealing to me.

At the moment I'm on a 7' funboard/fat shortboard, my plan is to keep going with that board (and when i go back to England, my 7'4") and then when i come over to NZ next year for good get a 9' log and a 6'6" shorty.

I want to be able to have long cruzy rides (log) but also want to be able to duck dive and have fun on bigger days.

I want to be a decent alrounder, not specifically a longboarder or shortboarder.

I'm alround sh*te at the moment though

I do both...each as it's own appeal...
Shortboard on bigger days...
Longboard on smaller days...
One or the other on days in between, depending on mood...

Shortboarding - fast...aggressive...quick turns...
Longboarding - cruisin' (that sweet glide)...long, smooth turns, nose riding...

9'8" & 6'6"
(9'8" in the pic is so new, I hadn't even waxed it up yet...)

i tried short boarding for a month or two and i wasnt very good at it, and then i saw this guy on a longboard, and i thorght that looks cool, so i rented out a longboard, and i picked it up so quikly, and iv just fallen in love with it, its so much more gracefull and if you want it to be, it can be almost as snapppy as short boarding, wich i find cool.
