Here's my story real quick,
I surfed a few summers back when i was 14,15,16, sold my short board at 16. Fast Forward to now, i'm 25, just moved back to narragansett, RI.
I need a Board, Prefer long board, i was thinking 9'0" or so. i'm roughly 2 bills these days, not like back in the day.
I dont need to the break the bank, was thinking no more the $600. I was looking at Bic Surf Boards.
Suggestions, Adavice, Comments I'm open to all.
Thanks

If you can already surf then I would stay away from BIC boards as they are heavy and cumbersome. They are great to learn on as they are so durable and sturdy but pigs to turn and manoeuvre.
You should be able to pick a great hand shaped boards for that sort of cash. I'm not familiar with the place you live, but are there any local shapers there that you can go and talk to?
Otherwise, you have some great domestic brands with heaps of heritage - look at Gordon & Smith, Robert August, Yater, Harbour as a few examples. All make terrific world class longboards and if you purchase from a shop where they know what they are talkiing about you;ll get a board that will ease you gently back into surfing but will alos allow you to progress and groow with you.

PS - if you post your height & weight then I can give you a rough idea of suitable dimensions to look for (board design will affect dimensiosn slightly of course)

not contradicitng you or nothing jonny, but i had a go on a bic longboard, it was a limited adition and had chiped rails( the rails were realy thin) and it turned so smoothly, and it was extreemily responsive, but it might be because im so light.

So here's what I purchased on my own prior (8 years ago since i was on a board last) experience, previous posts & replys, and advice on my local surf shop;
www.gansettjuice.com
I can't wait for the water to warm a lil' bit
Bic
9'4" long
3" think
22 3/4 " wide
9" fin with option for 3
I wasn't looking to break the bank, just looking to chill with some friends
My question now is about the fins, What makes the single fin more stable then the tri-fin?
Should I start single fin or tri?
