Board recommendation?

Postby AugustineWetta » Fri Jun 21, 2024 12:16 am

So. I've been surfing for almost forty years. In 2018, I was diagnosed with Parkinson's. I've been riding a 9'6" Firewire Solitude (1+2 fins). It's a great board, but as the disease progresses, I find that I'm having more trouble with endurance and balance. What's more, I only get three weeks a year to surf. I've been surfing EL Porto, Malaga Cove, and Old Man's--and I don't tend to go out when it's over 5 feet. So...I think I'm looking for a wider, more stable board. Anyone out there have any recommendations?

Parkinson’s oh bummer, but hopefully I can suggest boards 10 ft would add some length stability. and I suggest nothing wider than 24 inches,
go wider than that you will be straining your shoulder joints either paddling prone or kneeling,
You also have a get out the back problems the more volume or board length you have!

I am helping surfers with all sorts of physical challenges to their health and surfing , quite a few are finding kneeboards and swim fins one option, specifically designed boards help too, some have gone to paipos and special body boards ( not boogie boards) some have handle mounted and other aids. main aim is to get people back in the water as fully as possible.
This not about disabled but renewed and enabled !
Talk more with me I will go through my help files and see what comes up!
