Longboard curly leash?

I’ve got a springy coil leash for my 12.6” SUP - bought to keep the leash from dragging in the water or getting tangled underfoot.
I was thinking about using it for the soon to be acquired longboard…I doubt the weight and size of a longboard will allow it to be sprung back into me like a short board could.

Anyone tried this?

I haven't ever used a coiled leash however I doubt there would be much spring back from it because it's not like a coiled spring, it's like a telephone cord and doesn't have much spring power. But again I haven't used one. In my mind I would think it might be shorter and that would make it more dangerous as the coil will keep the board closer to you which would mean you would be more likely to contact it. Long ago we used bungee cords for leashes. Now those had some spring back and might even shoot past you then spring back again and hit you on the rebound. I would just stay underwater till it was done flying around.
