Stage 6 fin

Postby pinetree » Wed Nov 02, 2022 3:27 pm

Hi guys!
I have a Donald Takayama In the Pink and I love noseriding but enjoy doing some turns too.

I've been using a pivot fin on this board which makes things very slow/hard in terms on turns. What are your thoughts on the Stage 6 fins if you want to keep noseriding and add some more manoeuvrability? Is it worth?

PS: I've never actually tried a stage 6 fin

Maybe try changing the fin position of the pivot fin first. Its in the name; pivot fin for me turns relatively easy.

As far as brands, true ames, rainbow and fcs top my list.

Before going to a Greenough Stage 6, I would first try out the Greenough 4-A.

Love the 4A. Have several in different sizes.

Would you rather have a 4A instead of a pivot fin for a mix of noseriding and some turns?

Every surfer surfs differently. My turn in point/timing differs from your. My weight, wave, and board differs from yours. Best to keep trying a variety of different fins templates and see what works for your style of surfing.

But I've always recommended the Greenough 4-A as a next fin, and no one has said anything negative after trying it.
