Surfing Waves

Hi guys!

I currently own a Donald Takayama In the Pink 9'4 to surf a mellow and slow(ish) longboard wave and I absolutely love this board.

My family lives in a different country and I visit them kind of often. There is some good surf where they live but the waves and faster and slightly steeper. I'm planning on getting a board to have a board at my family's place to be able to surf when I'm out there.

I'm undecided between getting another 9'4 or going for a 9'2 since the waves are faster and steeper than my home break.

Given the surf spots differences, which board would recommend for a female, 5'7" tall, 132lbs who surfs small waves and likes noseriding?

Do the local surfers, where your family lives, noseride ? Or is it more race down the line and hit the lip on the closeout ?

What is the height of the wave ? chest, shoulder, head high ?

Some people noseride, yes. But most are focused on shortboarding. SUP is getting very popular around there too.

Height of the wave: it can big in the winter. Usually very small in the summer. I wouldn't surf anything above shoulder high but that's my preference and level of comfort.

I‘d be inclined to stay with the board you know, it certainly would handle conditions and be familiar under your feet!. The learning curve is what you need to learn to adjust to new conditions!
