Concave vs flat vee

Dear wise (old) Forumites,

As an advanced beginner I notice more and more while surfing thanksto the experience that starts to kick in.

Can it be that I sense my board with a concave (8'4) holds better in the waves than my board with a flat vee (9'4)?
Or is it my imagination and because of my 8'4 is my go to work horse I ride more than the 9'4?

I think I sense lots more control, stability. Both boards are 3 fin set up and about 76 liters. But the 9'4 is noticebly longer.

Thanks,

Bux

Are the 3 fins set up with the exact same size and template fin ?

Do both boards have the same tail design and width ?

Well yes, just about. :)

Only the centre fin has an inch size difference 8 vs 9 though shapewise very a like.

Or could it be my surfing that's used and adapted to the 8'4... :)

So then they're not exactly the same. 1 inch can make a huge difference.

Why don't you try riding the 9' with the fins from the 8' to see how that affects stability ?

Are both boards from the same shaper ?

Ok true,

No the shapers are different. Fin placement is exactly the same though, to the end of the boards.

Swap can be made, but I lack waves at the moment! As usual...

Can you upload a photo of your two boards ?
