Longboard Volume for Knee Padde

Postby henneschen » Wed Sep 22, 2021 6:00 pm

I'm 6'2" and approx. 170lbs (78kg).
So
my weight 78kg
surfboard weight 8kg
wetsuit 3 kg

So my new board needs a buoyancy of 89 l Volume in order not to sink and be able to paddle on my knees.
Is this right?

Thanks for an advice.

Henneschen, At your!height and weight I would suggest a good quality board more heavily glassed on top, between 9ft and 9ft 6inches around 3inches thick 23 inches wide.
Don’t fuss on volume it will readily available at this size! Think a basic board and not a performer or dedicated noserider.
Look at Torq boards or NSP board as I guess with the name Henneschen you may be based in Germany or Austria so if that is the case where do you go surfing ?
How experienced are you?
All questions that we can base better selection for you.
Like PU epoxy, tail shapes amount of rocker etc.

Curious too why you want to specifically knee paddle?
I've taken up troll hunting just for fun, instead of a rifle I'll just use a pun! 冲浪爷爷

No. According to that logic, I should sink to the bottom of the ocean when I paddle a shortboard.

There is no magic number that you need to calculate in order to be able to knee paddle. Just use common sense. Can you knee paddle a shortboard? No. Can you knee paddle most longboards? Yes
