Narrow Stance

Postby XiloRider » Tue Jul 27, 2021 3:56 pm

I just subscribed to Surfline Premium and saw myself on video for the first time.

Was actually pleasantly surprised. I thought I would look like crap, but I'm actually pretty smooth and look like I know what I'm doing (relatively speaking).

The thing that stuck out was my narrow stance. I'm not a short or "bulky" person, and I'm slightly knock-kneed, so I'm sure that adds to the effect. Is a narrow stance something I need to correct? Or maybe narrow-stance people need to be on shorter boards?

Just wondering...

I'll try and record/link something off Surfline. Problem is, it's crowded and we all look like a bunch of ants. Took me forever to find myself, and only because I always do stretches and like to sit and spin a lot between waves.

There are boards (hulls) that usually feel better with a narrow stance. What are you riding?

Without seeing you actually surfing, I ( and probably no one ) can't comment. But what I can say is, "Why are you trying to FIX something that isn't BROKE ? Did you say you look terrible or that you're falling off ? No, you said your surfing looked GOOD from what you can tell from the video. So who cares if your stance is narrower than others. Is it working ? Then leave it alone.

What do you mean? You can watch the surfcam recording and find yourself in the footage?
Thanks
