Opinions of surftech hobie psd

Hi folks,

Currently on a 9,6 tufflite randy french hp which I use from ankle to knee / thigh high. Have a potential swap opportunity for a hobie psd which should be cost neutral hopefully. Just wondered if anyone on here has ridden them and had any feedback.

I would like something a bit smaller for a few reasons but main one is just fancy a change.... Others are
1) manouverability and less of a handful in windy conditions
2) my shorter boards are 20 and 22" wide and I find going to 23" feels uncomfortable when paddling
3) a bit less float....my hp feels a bit barge like sometimes

Thx in advance

my go-to longboard is a 9'0 x 21 x 2 7/8 with a squash tail and less rocker. Since it's not as big as my regular lonboard I use it without the sidebites for easier paddle. With my regular longboard my arms hit the rails, with this one they do not, and it's ligher so easier to lug around and to fit in the car.

My suggestion.

I love the Hobie PSD, it the most "short" longboard I've ever ridden. Don't believe me, check out Phil Rajzman speed, power and flow on the Hobie PSD. ( and keep watching to the end ! )

Thanks guys

I've been out of the water for a month due to a back / shoredump injury but used a psd for most of Feb and loved it. Unlike my old longboard I really felt like I could engage the rails of the hobie, and I love thd way the rear rail bites on a bigger wave. Running a 7" hobie fin with gx side bites and feels spot on.

Back feels good now; just need to manage some ciatic pain over next couple of weeks and should be back in the water, lock down rules permitting.

What surprised me was how much easier it was to get on the nose than my previous, much floatier board. Also IB, bang on about width... Much easier to paddle a narrower board (my short board is an old surftech mccoy nugget.. About 20"...less of a jump to the hobie than my old 23" randy frenc)
