Surfing Waves

Just bought a 9'6 x 23 x 3 Springfield model. I surf mainly doheny boneyard and sanO. Looking for a great maneuverable fin that still has good stability. Looking at the greenough 4a 9.75, Apocalypse 9.5 yater pivot, and a Joel Tudor 9.625 flex fin. If you have any suggestions? Thank you

Nice board... I also have serious storage envy (I live in a 120 year old cottage with no inbuilt storage!!! I'm probably on the wrong forum for that comment). I got some advice a while back not to oversize a 4a..so stuck a 9" on my 9,6 and it seemed about the right balance of hold and manoeuvrability...the tail on my board to fairly narrow though

He recommended using a flex or pivot fin. Didn't really give any advice on specific fin or size recommendations. My other board is a custom 9'0 22 1/2 2 7/8+ rounded pin that is great in beach breaks with a 9" fibre glass co Bruce Jones California Classic shape fin. I just haven't tested a lot of longboards or single fins. I was a short boarder(fish, quad, thruster) that would ride logs on small days. Now I'm logging most the time. Your forum has been a huge help with understanding how to set the rail and lock the tail for noseriding. Definitely improving getting to the nose and back... just need to spend more time in the water. Thanks for the response I just texted him.

If you like the California Classic template but want more flex, try the Josh Farberow fin. It’s the same shape but has a really nice progressive flex from tip to base.
