Longboard for a beach break

Hi, I was wondering if a particular longboard design would be more suited for beach breaks. The beach break I surf is usually pretty soft and mushy in the summer, but can break harder with steeper faces during hurricanes & winter swell. I would only be surfing in 2 – 5 feet. I like the glide and drawn out turns of the 9’6 infinity cluster I currently ride with a Greenough 4a single fin. Would a board with a more of a pointed nose and pintail work even better in these conditions? Thanks!! Jeff

Well here in Japan it's mainly beach breaks, so I got a Surftech Donald Takayama "Beach Break" model.

Thanks! It looks like more of a pointed round nose & hard down rails are the way to go for a beach break. Do you think the Takayama could work as a single fin?

Lance Burkhart might say to you, "Jeff, you still have a single fin mentality".

Haha. Might be true. People have told me that single fins & beach break don't go well together, but I have been surfing my 9'6 as a single & really like it. I have a 4a greenough in there & it paddles fast & is easier to turn, pretty loose.

Before shortboards were ever invented, people rode Shore breaks, Pipeline, wave spots big and small, the results were based on the riders skills.

Surfing did not happen because of short boards, there a better suitability for waves but a good Surfer on his board of choice can do it.
