Buying your first Longboard

Postby Laguna » Mon Sep 26, 2005 10:07 pm

Hey guys, ive been surfing for a few months on a 7"3 mini mal and im thinking of buying 2 new boards, a shortboard and a longboard so I can learn all styles of surfing. After watching Big Wednsday last night im really keen on buying a longboard, any advice on what to get?

Ive seen this 9ft1 classic malibu board in my local shop reduced from £699 to £599, im not sure how good that is because im not use to longboarding

I don't know how much your minimum wage is (To compare prices) but I do know that with the current exchange rate, £599=$1200. Knowing that, I would say don't buy the board... You're best off asking the longboarders in your area, and either look for a nice used board, or ask around for any local shapers who have decent prices (If given the choice I always support local shapers) If you're not in a rush, take your time finding a good deal.

Another thing to consider, do you want a cruiser? or a noserider? something you can surf on big (5ft+) days? or something you only want for the smaller days?
