There's an 8'10 board i've got my eye on, hand shaped, single fin. I'm quite new to surfing really but I really want to get into longboarding. Given that i'm a 5'2 girl (well 24 year old!) Could I noseride etc this size board?
Thanks a lot!

8’ 10” is a good size for you before learning and everything you need, just get e standard longboard, learn the basics be patient as you need to have good skills to real nose ride well.
Where are you planning to surf? Have you surfed much yet?

In actuality, a 8'10" might be better for you to noseride then a 9'0". I'm the same height as you and 125lbs. Because of our shorter gait , stride , whatever you want to call it, we end up a half step away from the nose on a 9'0". While a taller person ends up fine. That's why one of my favorite boards is a 8'8" Southpoint. It's not "legal" for a sanctioned longboard contest where the rules states you board must be over 9'0", but if you're not doing contest the 8'10" will be fine.
You only stated the length of 8'10", I hope the width is near 22" with a wide round nose.

I have the same problem Waikikikichan.
I always have half step left to the nose. It's very annoying. I'll think about getting a slightly shorter board..
I have 2 9ft now (progressive and traditional) and I didn't buy longer boards because I knew I was too small.

Most of the time it's not a physical problem ( like the length of your board ) but a Mental Block that is limiting you from getting to the nose.
