Single fin on a HPLB

Postby Jeffdrisc » Sun Oct 21, 2018 11:56 pm

Hi,
I have 9' Hobie PSD high performance longboard. I currently ride it with a 6.5" fin & FCS M5 side bites. I really love the board in waist+ surf. For smaller waves, would a single fin work with this type of board, or would I need to save up for more of a noserider?
I surf beach breaks & tend to surf more off the tail, but would like to work on trimming & noseriding on smaller days.
If a single fin would work, any suggestions? I read somewhere that the wignut long rake fin works with performance longboards.
Thanks,
Jeff

1 ) Just borrow a 9 inch single fin from a friend before you go out and spend money on anything.
2) Beach break and Noseriding don't mix very well
3) I ridden a Hobie PSD in Surftech Tuflite construction, and it noseride fine. ( and it was what Phil Rajzman used to win the world longboard championship )

( oh, and watch it to the very end. )

Good call on borrowing a 9" fin first. Thanks for the advice. Always appreciate your input.
