Hi! I have surfing for year, started on a 9'2" bic, which was fun. Got a bit cocky and dropped down to a 7'6" malibu custom. Can catch it quite easy some days, and on others find it stpidly difficult. Have I jumped too soon? Also te lease gets rapped up around me constantly is it too long? Can i cut it? I also cannot no matter how hard I try sit on my god damn board........please help? I am 6'1" and 14.5 Stone (of muscle, for the ladies). What would you recomend?

Just get a new (shorter) leash - they're not that expensive!

Sitting on the board is one of those things - you can get out back, you can catch and ride waves, but you have to look like an idiot trying to sit there for ages until you get the hang of it.

All I can say is that the balance of every board is different, so you'll just have to stick at it until it clicks

sorry!!

What up! I just jumped from my 9' log to a 7'6" funshape too and I'm doing fine and having a great time... Here's my pointers:

1. I have separate leashes for both surfboards. a 10' long leash for the 9' log and a 8' one for the 7'6" funshape.

2. shorter board does mean harder balance. On my log, I can practically sit on the tail and still holding the board in balance, when on the shorter one you kinda wanna sit on its center of mass to make it stay balanced.

Thanxs for the info. The leash I have isn't from the 9'2" it is what they gave me in the shop. I would say it was about 8' but it really gets in the way. Do any of you guys surf at Croyde?
