leesh and fin advise

my surfing has been progressing quite nicely but ive been finding it hard to keep control of the board when i get on the nose i ride a 9'2 NSP longboard you could say thats the problem being a cheap pop out but its acctully a pretty good board, i have a 8" (i think) fin with it as far back in the box as it will go but when i get on the nose the board i find it really unstable and tends to slide out alot, would geting a large fat 10" single fin help me hold it on the nose easyer?

plus i broke my leash today was considering a knee leash do any of you use them or would it be best to stick to the tradional leashes

OH GOD DONT GET A KNEE LEASH! you cant wear it unless youre wearing a full suit/have knees like an elephant, i have SCARS from a knee leash they hurt so much you cant walk you cant knee paddle popping up becomes incredibly difficult DONT DO IT.

as for fins you could try a turbo tunnel, ive got one, its not on my current board but i used it on a 9'0 bic and you can feel the added stability (not that i was noseriding) but in turns and such-if you do yoiure meant to put it as far forward in the finbox as you can, not sure if this applies to oher fins, give it a go with your current fin, it cant hurt

guess thats a no then for the knee leash i did wonder dont see many people using them

wonder if theres anywere i could hire fins out to test them and see what one suits the board better

You might try checking out used fins at the local shop. They often have boxes of them around and sell 'em pretty cheap.

Longshot here, and seems obvious -- but be sure your leash is long enough that you're not pulling the tail of the board out of the water with a short leash while you're up on the nose.

Yes, I prefer a knee nose rider leash... personal preference!

I only use knee leashes now, don't know what you are going on about babyboarder89. I find that they help to keep the leash out from under your feet when you are moving up and down your board; you really need to try it for yourself to see if you prefer it.

You know on the lack of stability when on the nose can come with you just learning the fine art of noseriding like trim, timing, placement on the wave, and the nsp sounds like it is serving its purpose for you, but it could be lacking the performance that another board might provide now that you are stepping it up in you skill level.
No comment on the leash I never use one, Just Kidding, I've always used a standard ankle leash. I try to get a thinner one for less drag and doesn't seem to get tangled all that much. Have fun.
