What longboard for begginers?

I was looking at the Roger Cooper range that are stocked locally but the Island has a limited range, so I'm asking advice here on what you would buy for between £400 & £800.
I'm not too keen on a pop out cause I already have my camper stuffed with kitesurfing kit and I'll only have room for two boards, hopefully a good Longboard and a half decent shortboard for later if I progress, so a pop out would become a spare and I just don't want the hassle. If you think I could be convinced otherwise please go for it!
A bit of info on my water activities so far include yachting both cruising and racing as winchman, sailmaker for 6 years, raced dinghies, kitesurfing the last 2 years although I've had my eyes closed more than open, so say 6 months........ and I'm now looking at surfing.
So what would you buy?
