snapped tuflite mctavish

Postby buddha72 » Wed Nov 23, 2016 12:34 am

guys,
I have snapped my tlpc MacTavish fireball just in front of the fins, its a clean snap.

I have had other longboards with snaps repaired but they have been toward the nose and they have never been the same balance, is it worth repairing this one being that the repair would be under my back foot? am I thinking right that because its under my back foot and always in the wave that I may not notice a big difference?

thanks

Just my opinion but since the added weight is under our back foot you won't get the baseball bat effect that added weight on the front of the board has. The heavier the front of the board the more weight you have to swing around in turns. Just my opinion and I haven't tried to fix a board broken in that position. It might be challenging to fix if it is close to the fins. I am sure there are others here who have some real experience with that break.
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

Tuflite construction relies upon the skin shell integrity in the construction process, whether a repair of that nature would be strong enough in the pressure end of the board foot and wave, I don't know

The weight required to regain strength would also concern me in its effect on function.
Do you really néed an excuse to get a new board? .
