I am looking at buying a McTavish Carver but need advice as to the size and my weight ratio.
so the board is 7ft6x21x27/8.
I weigh around 89-90kg. Would this size board be ok for my weight? ?

How much surfing experience do you have? How fit are you? How often do you go surfing?

Been surfing a while now. Fitness isn't to bad tbh I have been riding a 7'10 for the last 2 years but just needed to know whether my weight is suitable for this size board

The Carver is a really nice board, several of my friends have it and I was tempted to buy one myself. It really comes alive in chest plus waves, not so great for smaller waves despite its size (its ok but its more a cruisey point board than a small wave board). If you are planning to use it in this kind of slightly larger surf, then it will be fine for your weight. Keep in mind that people your weight regularly surf 6ft boards, so there shouldn't be any issue

If you are looking for an all rounder board for smaller summer surf etc, its not a terrible board by any means but it will be noticeably harder than a 7ft10 minimal style board (assuming that's your current board) in terms of catching waves. There are probably 'better' boards for this kind of surfing, but there are certainly many more 'worser' boards.

If the price is right, get it. They are good boards, well made. My only hesitation is that if you are looking for a small / summer surf board, there are probably better options. But if you are looking for a board that you can use on the slightly bigger days (perhaps with your current board for the small days) then its a great fit for your quiver.

Cheers for all that man! Great advice. Well I'm in Cornwall surfing the winter wavessels right now and I actually bought this and took it out today and it moves amazingly. I will be buying a quiver for the summer surf for sure but this carver is really good! Very agile and responsive. Cheers again bro
