I just bought a 4/3 (already have booties), gloves, a hood, and a new board for spring surfing (all under $450!!)...

I will be surfing in the first weekend of April in Jersey..anyone else do surfing in water this cold (mid 40's)??

What should I expect??

Usually I surf summer through the fall

By Jersey I assume you mean New Jersey, USA not the small UK Channel Island?

EAR PLUGS! even under the hood! Look after them well!

Shortness of breath when you duckdive can be a real surprise, I surf Year round in the UK and use a 5/4.5/4 as it keeps me toasty toasty warm for hours - but the paddling will be tougher so be prepared for super early fatigue and DON'T push your luck with Hypothermia!
