Hey guys,
Thought I might share my latest desires and lusts (not the deep dark ones)

...but my surfing ones

Went for a surf with a group of mates this weekend, and we did some board swapping.. which may cause me to get a second job the more it happens  Anyway, I started surfing at the start of the year, bought myself a 7'8" Minimal with a thruster set up, and during the board swap, I got to use a 9'6" Bear single fin which I freaking loved! found it just glided effortlessly into waves and the stoke was through the roof trimming down the line.

I don't care if people usually go down rather than up, i freaking loved it, although my bank account may not :spew:

Got me looking at a Mctavish Fireball 9'6" down the line in Taranaki. Hello Stoke! :woot:

It's kind of funny how people can rave about how good a board works and it can go in one ear and out the other. When you experience it for yourself, however, it can have you purchasing your next board with no questions asked. I like to let the boards do the talking.

Yes, you can catch a bunch of waves with a longboard. Yes, it's worth it to drop big bucks on a good one. Yes, it's cheaper than a wedding ring, or a new car, or my wife's loui vuiton

Harvey, thanks for the post. Wondering what the surf conditions were when you tried that 9-6? Past few days been seeing a number of long boarders enjoying long rides on steep angle 4'+ waves otherwise closed out to most others (myself w 8-6 board and short boarders included:))

How was angling/turning the board?

G'day Hank
I was surfing 3 ft beach breaks in nz on it, went great. angling and turning weren't a problem. Since then i've had a long board custom shaped for me, a 9'1". Improved my surfing 10 fold. Theres something to be said about knowing a good shaper and getting along with him. They really are a lot better than something you'd buy just from the rack. It turns great, paddles great and put my wave count up!
Hope this helps, and sorry for the extremely late reply!

Harvey
