Posted: Fri Sep 27, 2013 10:45 amHot coat isn't necessary, it is just to give the board a smooth and sandable finish. As long as the board has no holes from fittings etc it would be fine to surf. You could DIY hot coat but you would need an electric sander and lots of patience.
