Buying a new longboard

Postby mloya34 » Mon Aug 19, 2013 1:00 am

Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade and buy a new longboard. I surf the smaller waves in the Northeast, about 2-3 ft. My first board which I am using now is a 9'6" soft top, and I've gotten a lot of use out of it in the last 8 years. I talked to 3 or 4 different local surfers, and they've all suggested an NSP board. I've read a lot about them, and I find myself reading more bad reviews than good. However, I only get the chance to surf a couple times a year, so I'm not sure if I should be spending more money on a higher performance board. I'm 5'9" and weigh about 180 lbs. Thanks!

There was a period where NSP had problems but they have improved to be a good "pop out" Asian made board,
The epoxy models are stronger than the PU models and have a better flotation aspect if the waves are longboard suitable then the NSP 9'2" longboard will suit you well and be a lot more capable than your softy!
It will feel skittish/ more responsive and will be a next step in your learning.
I wouldn't go shorter as your amount for water time needs this type of board, besides the NSP will be performance enough after the foamy.
Enjoy!
I've taken up troll hunting just for fun, instead of a rifle I'll just use a pun! 冲浪爷爷
