Weight of 8'0" SuperfishII?

Postby wwwdrew » Sun Sep 16, 2012 3:16 am

Hoping someone that owns an 8ft SuperfishII PE, X2, FutureFlex, or SF XL can tell me how much their board weighs?? I just bought the SuperfishII FutureFlex which weighs in at 14.5 pounds (6.58kg, with fins and no leash)). GSI advertises the PE and X2 as light but they don't specifically say the FutureFlex is light. But I expected it to be light due to biaxial fiberglass, epoxy, and carbon rails. I asked GSI and they danced around the question. I like the FutureFlex concept but also like lighter boards. Lighter seems easier to manuever plus a slightly easier paddle for grandpa.

Perhaps it's just in-my-head, but still curious what the other SFII's weigh. Either way, I'm sticking with a Superfish, but might exchange the FF for a PE or X2 if they are signifcantly lighter.

Thanks in advance

Heavy is good, that means it might actually last a while.

Hi wwwdrew, welcome to Surfing Waves!

I would have thought GSI would be happy to give you the weights.

Thanks for the welcome. I would have thought GSI would be happy to give it too. But the GSI rep I chatted with at their website didn't want to say anything. He was vague and just said I'd love the board. I do like the board, but it does feel a little heavier than expected. I spoke with a guy that owns the SF1 and SF2. He said his SF1 epoxy weighed in at 7.1 kgs and his SF2 epoxy weighed in at 6.1 kgs without fins. My SF2 FF board without fins is 6.35kgs, so it's not too bad. They are built for duarability, maybe a little more than I'd like. I prefer boards a little bit on the lighter side (but not too light like some of them). Either way, this board rides great and for the volume it's still lighter than a lot of others.
