Hey Everyone...
I'm new to this forum and relatively new at surfing and just wanted to drop a line, hope to learn a lot here...Been surfing for abour 1.5 years, with no help until recently.
Just got back from a week long surf camp down in Costa Rica... Absolutely amazing to actually have some surfable swells.. Learned alot there... Kinda in between boards right now.
Had an 8' lauren yater which was a great board, but decided after the vacation to go the longboard route. Just ordered a custom Ricky Carroll - RC JB model 9' with some custom colors, should be here
in about a week or so... So stoked about that........ Anyways, this is my hello...
Hope I didn't post this in the wrong place... Admin, please move if so....

Hey everyone,
I figured rather than starting a new post, I would just repost in here. Just wanted to share, a picture of my new board.
I've been out on the water the last few days, and it is everything I dreamed it would be.. Stable for me, and seems like
it will have room to grow with me... It seems quick to paddle into a wave.. And I'm super excited to see my surfing progress.

Thanks Guys..
The owner / Driver was right beside me.. Lol, I'm babying that board..
Progress is somewhat slow, but I'm super stoked and I keep getting more and more comfortable on the board and addicted to surfing... I'm getting up pretty much every attempt.. Sitting & than laying down and paddling into the waves. Learning to shift my weight and takes steps forward to speed the board up... Now, I really need to learn how to turn and ride the face of the wave, Verse riding straight in... I'm going out tonight after work, hopefully something else clicks.... My center fin is in the middle of the fin box, I'm going to move it more to the back and see if that helps.
I'll have to search this forum for some more pointers when I have a moment...
@#*&^% !! ... Yeah..
^^^^That was me being polite on the board and attempting to show my excitement for surfing..

Soon you''ll have to change your avatar to surfersav, but you are about to learn that white water surfing is ( to quote Bear in Wednesday) "that's just the lemon next to the pie". Just before you go moving your centre fin, read the fin primer and realise the further back the tighter the board is to turn. have a pencil or marker pen and mark where your best spot is for the fin. If the board was preloved by an experienced surfer it is probably in its swet spot now
but I'd wait awhile until I was actually riding the wave before I got too excited.

Hey Jaffa,
I think it will be awhile until I get to the pie.. Lol, anyways.. It's a blast.. My center fin was in the center of the box for the first few sessions. Tonight, I brought it back about half that distance to the tail. I really like the way it handled. I'll give it another session or so, until I change the positioning again.................... Dang it was crowded out there...

Hey you are now surfer savy, you have discovered your sweet spot for the fin, one unique thing about surfing there is no one size fits all and the only criteria I place on it is, are you having fun, a yes

fits over all things.
Forget fun and you might as well play tennis. Ask Bobby Martinez
