Walden Mega Magic 7.2

Postby odokka » Tue May 10, 2011 5:08 am

Hello all, I live in Norway and this is my first post here :-)

I am considering buying a Walden SLX Mega Magic board, which has extreme volume for it's length,
even the shortest version(7.2) can noseride!

Anyone ridden this board? Looks a bit fat & weird, but I am a beginner and need all the flotation and
stability I can get...and would like to surf smaller waves with ease. 2-4 ft range..so longboard seems right.
(yes, they do call the 7.2 a longboard)

Would love to hear about experiences with this board, and about Walden boards in general!

I am not sure about Walden, but I have only seen (for the most part) good things written about them.

For your first board, I would suggest a longboard in the 9 -> 9.5ft range. You will soon outgrow a mini-mal, but you will not outgrow a longboard (as long as that is what you want to do).

I personally prefer my boards to either be small enough to duck dive, or to be in the 9'2 longboard region where (if I am lucky) I can walk it. I find intermediates have the disadvantages of both with little advantage. Don't let that put you off buying a mini-mal though, if that is what you want to do, buy it! They can be great fun and you can even get a couple of short noserides if you know how :D
