corralejo, Fuerteventura

i have just booked a holiday to corralejo, Fuerteventura. im staying withing corralejo and taking my 9'1 longboard.
i dont have a car to drive and was wondering if anybody has surfed there so could tell me what breaks are near corralejo or if there are any companies that will drive you to the surf for a day.
Also would love to hear if any of your guys have been

El Cotillo is where I went almost everyday. Had some great days there. You get waves at flag beach but can be choppy due to wind. There a wave in the town too on good days which would be perfect for a longboard.

Id hire a car, Think I payed £120 odd for a week and drove over to the west to el cotillo everyday, low tide I found was often best. The north or west are the spots that get hit with the swells but the north is lava reefy so I wouldnt head there unless you know what your doing. El Cotillo can get pretty serious too though but it was pretty chilled when I was there in summer.

Buy a storm rider guide book and it has all the places in or look on magicseaweed as theres surf spot guides on there.


Where did you end up going??


I had two week in corralejo a few years ago and went to lanzarote for new year in 08/09 and after hiring another car there, spent new years day in the water at famara. What a day...sleepy town, hardly any people around in the water with a classic wave on the beach.

hi i havent gone yet im going in 2 weeks i cant wait just some warm water and any surf at all ill be happy thanks for the info i cant travel too far tho as my girl friend will be with me

My girlfriend was also with me.............you need somebody to guard the towel She cant really swim anyway so doesnt go in the water so I was on my own really. I did wipeout at el cotillo and crack a brand new board with the back of my head, which was interesting, seeing stars for a bit afterwards.

Look at some of the pics on magicseaweed and youll see it could squash your head like a grape if theres a swell crashing into it

Rocky Point in corralejo an intermediate reef break if the conditions permit ie a big swell. At this time of year el cotillo will be your best bet as its on the right side of the island.

Almost all the breaks are lava reefs exept got flag/glass beach and el cotillo on the east.

Grab a copy of this....Ive got a few and cant fault them.

Try heading out earlier as the wind seems to pick up later in the day I noticed.



Habour wall (el muelle) is a short walk to the top of the town.....that can get a bit bonkers.

I seen a good spot going off on the bus on the way home.......Down near glass beach out past the huge hotels out there......

Flag beach is within walking distance if you dont get a car but its more for kite surfers...worth a look though
