im having a friend of mine shape me a 9' longboard with a quad set up
i learned that it depends on my weight so im around 160 lbs at 5' 10''.
i want to try out a pair of one of these cutaway fins (
http://www.thesurfboardwarehouse.com/p- ... 7-8-9.aspx) on it with a pair of FCS TC aqualine fins for the inner fins. would this be a good idea? any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks

Pendergast,
have you surfed with tri-fin longboard? I've got two of them. They are so stable and also hard to turn when not moving so I can't imagine using 4 fins.

A good quad is every bit as turnable as a thruster setup but looser and with a better feel of open projection.
(keep in mind planshape, rocker and other factors come into play... It's not as simple as just swapping the fins to get a "good quad")

Single fins rule longboards.....no question.
Less drag, more flow, love to get the tail loose! I ride a 7.5" cutaway on my 9'2.

Do the quad if you want...but have your shaper put a box in the center so you can toss all those fins for a single.
