Surfing Waves

Im thinking about going on a surf trip to Indonesia, or somewhere in the sth Pacific. Can anyone suggest somewhere suitable for an intermediate level longboarder. Ive looked on the websites of World Surfaris and The Surf Travel Co and theres some great looking spots, but all the photos have young shortboarders getting barreled on shallow looking waves. im 35yo and just want to chill out for a week with some clean long rides. thats the fantasy anyway.

Also be interested in peoples experiences of travelling with a 9+ board?

I've been to Bali a couple of times, no worries re getting around with a 9' board, if you're happy enough in grunty waves, then you'll be fine on a longer board there, places like Ulu's are great.

I just booked a trip to Vanuatu in the S. Pacific for November next year, I'll let you know how it was then.

Have been to Tahiti, Fiji and the Cook Islands with a longer board, getting round is fine, surfed a few places in Tahiti, it was really heavy, you would need to be pretty confident in fast tropical waves there, similar for Fiji, wasn't much about in the Cooks, either smallish nut dragger spots or big gnarly closeouts on the barrier reef.

Hope that helps a bit. Travelling to places like that is all about finding your thing at the end of the day, and even if you don't surf, there's heaps of other cool stuff to check out.
