Longboard or Strange Hybrid?

Greetings,

To those who know me, I'm sorry I've not been on this board (pun intended) for a while. That's due to all the military (US Navy) obligations I've had since last October. I've even barely had time to surf.

I got back into the surf with my 7'2" Funboard yesterday in choppy water from the nor-easter. PHEWWW that was fun, but even getting out to the lineup was a pain. I had to duck dive and time my way out there.

After I went surfing I hit up Aqua East Surf Shop in Neptune Beach, FL. I saw a board in the used board section, a Rozo about 8.5' long which fits the description of a longboard. It had a single fin, glassed on. It was the length of a longboard but it had the same lines as a shortboard but with thicker foam. I wonder if that's a longboard or a shortboard or some bizarre combination of the two? If it's the last item, is this some new surfing trend among shapers?

what was the tail like? super pointy pin tail? if so, it was probably a gun, they're used for big waves.

Funny I don't recall. I believe it was a swallowtail like configuration, though. And we really don't get big waves here in Florida. The biggest I've seen are 3-4 foot waves...

8'5" if it's not a mini mal then yea I say it's a gun. A retro gun at that,, if all it has is a single fin configuration, if it's in the mini mal shape then it's a mock down of a noserider log but since you stated the profile is of a shortboard I say gun.

Probably a mal or a smaller longboard. I know Dick Roseborough (makes Rozo, Dickbilt surfboards) is a local shaper here in northeast florida, and he specializes in longboards.
