Surfing Waves

I've surfed an epoxy 9'2" a few times and it worked good considering my skill level. I'm thinking about buying either a 9'4"x22.5x2 7/8 or a 9'6"x23x3, both are T&C fiberglass boards. I've been told epoxy floats better than fiberglass so I'm worried not having enough buoyancy. I weigh 235lbs. Any suggestions?

yeah, epoxy are generally more buoyant than fibreglass, there are epoxy boards built to replicate the buoyancy of fibreglass boards.

that sort of size board the difference between epoxy and fiberglass floatwise shouldn't make all that much difference... but if you are going to go long i can't think of any reason not to go all the way and get the 9'6"... maybe even 10'...
as much as i prefer glass i went epoxy for my longboard as its a bit tougher and longboards are more prone to taking knocks... doors, cars, other boards etc.

Yeah, I'm leaning toward the 9'6". It should be big enough to hold me up. I used a 10'2" a couple times, it felt too big, hard to move around.
