Hey loggers
does anyone have experience with the rad noserider in 4'+ (or overhead+) conditions?

I'm thinking of one but need to go large-ish occasionally

thanks

I have a 9'0. Pretty quick boards. I am not really good enough for big waves but I can only imagine it would be a great board. I am riding a different board now but have let some better surfers use my Infinity and they really liked it. It is a rad noserider.

I was thinking 10'. I am about 185 lb and 6'3". Also not really good enough for big waves but want to be!

if you can get out to the big waves on a longboard you'll do far better than on a shortboard provided they're not too hollow and possibly depending on what the tail is like (i think). know nothing about the rad but have a 9'4 and have been flying ever sinced i got it. haven't had it out in anything much bigger than 4ft tho.
but if you're not sure if its possible to ride a log in overhead waves check out endless summer 2.

Yes, saw Endless Summer 2 the other day. Wingnut is pretty inspirational with his stylish approach to everything from 2' to 2x overhead. Pretty annoying movie though. Had a good laugh at Point Break the other day. Their vision of Torquay and Bell's Beach had us all chuckling (pine trees, left handers etc).
The rad noserider is a squashtail/squaretail looking thing and not thinking large hollow stuff right now. Just like the idea of 10' for paddling I guess.

One of my best boards I had was a 10'0 Infinity RadNoserider. This board works great, especially using the Turbo Tunnel fin with the sidebites. I didn't believe how good the fin work with the outline, but it did. I rode up to 5plus high waves at El Porto. I was told by Infinity surfer Ryan Engle to try to turbo fin setup and boy was I really suprised. I had used the fin setup on other boards and it did not work well. Your best bet is to have Steve or Ryan set you up with the board base on your weight and surfing abilities. Also, if you don't mind Surftech, they offer a Infinity Radnoserider that rode just as good as the handshaped boards. Also another great board Infinity makes is the Secret Weapon.

What size turbo tunnel? What weight are you (if that is not too personal)?

Fin

The size of the fin depends on the board size recommended by Turbo Tunnel. http://www.turbotunnel.com/default.asp?pageid=40880

I used the 8.5 with the 2plus1 setup. My weight is 200 and it was for my 10'0 Radnoserider. I used the Turbotunnel fin on my other noseriders and it did not work well. The Radnoserider design really makes the fin work.

I have a 10' Radnoserider the surftech one and i love it have been riding it with a 91/2" turbo tunnel fin as a single! Rides great in all conditions! Including well overhead!Did you get one after? Are you happy with it?
What size sidebites are you using with the 81/2 turbo?
Huw

What setup come in your RNR?

Hi Huw
in the end I got the 10' ST rad noserider and have been happy fiddling with the cluster setup it came with; 5 7/8 centre and 4 7/8 biters. Would like to try the set up I have read about with the clusters, 5 1/2 biters and 3" centre. I love the board but do find it pretty big in the faster beachies and perhaps a tad slow.

However, with all that float (96 litres compared to 66 litres in my McT razar) my wave count is all time. I love driving it off the tail in the pushier stuff but can still go out probably 4 days out of 5 and have fun. Have surfed in OH+ down to 6".

Coming into summer here after a great (and unusual) spring, so probably not much juice around. Will look to trying the 9.5 turbo tunnel soon. Hoping for more acceleration whilst retaining hard turns.

Cheers

I am currenly riding mine with the standard 51/2" sides with a 71/2" turbo tunnel and its faster out of the turns than with the 91/2" turbo as a single! Dont have an 81/2" turbo to try yet! My surftech came with 6"centre and 51/2" sides? Strange how the come with different fins?

My quick measurements are probably to blame. Guessing that's a 6" centre but don't think the sides are 5 1/2".

I've got a 7 1/2 turbo. Will try that when the gale drops (been 30-40 kts since Thurs night) and when I get back from a school camp in the mountains! Kind of good timing really... Forecast says Easterly until Weds which is the only wind to wreck the whole coast.

Thanks for the tip! Hey, you ever see other Infintys over there? They are completely unknown here.

There are a few people in the know but not that many! I think i have only ever once surfed at the same time as someone else surfing one! But have spoken to a few people about them! Our suf is a lot less regular than yours! And with a young family as well dont get in as often as i would like! Sometimes there are a few good days a week sometimes nothing for weeks! Saying that i am going to get wet tommorrow!

Hey bux
mine looks like yours!! That'd be the 10 footer I'd guess.
Just returned from a trip to some down south juice and had it in some very fast, hollow 4-5'. No complaints about the board at all. Am running the turbo tunnel with the sideys in. I got flogged a few times and not sure if this was me or the board being a bit slow. Suspect former rather than later.
Will be pushing this point with my new found confidence in the tough stuff.

cheers
