So I just recently picked up longboarding regularly (4-5x/week) about a month and a half ago. I can easily catch 1-3 ft. waves, make the drop, go down the line.. I'm in Southern Cali and frequent Bolsa Chica most of the time, but I'm looking for some good places in Orange County or even San Diego that would be good for the log.
I've heard Doheny State Beach and San O are good for longboarding.. any other places really good for the longboard?

Huntington has some good breaks as well as Newport. Doheney is good as well is San O but they are a slower moving wave. Less power less speed and thrill.

tourmaline is really popular and sunset cliffs are frequented by longboarders

San O is to crowded. Surf churches up the beach if you can. Such a sick wave and pumps after heaps of rain. Just wear earplugs tho as the pollution is pretty sketchy. Trestles is heaps of fun when its small also, but dont bother if it gets bigger as they hate longboarders up there. Do some day trips up to Rincon that place is unreal!!

san o is usually crowded on good days but they have some real fun waves for longboards. plus even though its crowded the vibe is always super mellow there, and on good days theres breaks all along the beach =)

San O is always my first choice, but heading south there are plenty of other good breaks, Beacons, Pipes, San Elijo. These aren't necessarily LB breaks, but they are lots of fun. If you're of a mind, drop me a pm and we'll hook up, show you some of my fav's.

Go San O, trails, Malibu, Rincon or Bolsa Chica

Hey, while there is a focus on San O, be sure to tell the local and state government not to build that stinking toll road through the park. I did!

Truth of the matter is, any break will work for longboard or shortboard.

Rincon for the win. just avoid weekends or when famous people go there. kelly slater was there last saturday, needlessly to say, there were about 300 guys in the lineup.

Rusty,
San Luis Obispo? Sweet, one of my favorite places!
