Roy's promotion is almost ubiquitous enough to snag a sale somewhere.
If perseverance sells then Roy will have a sale soon, and he will have earnt it enduring "the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune".
A sale will bring broad cheers across many a forum.

..and boos across many more I expect :)

More power to the buyer I think, if they buy they buy.

OK, can I just get more info on this price?? This is what you can get a GRAND house for (at least here in TX) or a new Lamborghini etc......HOW IN THE WORLD can you compare those two things to a surfboard??!! How is that possible. I'm sorry but I don't understand. Am i missing something here?

I mean, yes they are gorgeous works of art and innovative designs but I can't fathom anyone spending more than $5-10k AT MOST and even that price to me would be outrageous. Sorry not trying to be a downer I'm just dumbfounded right now. Please elaborate on what your product does to justify that price tag of $400,000+ dollars? That's SIX ZEROS behind that 4! lol

I would have thought a Texas oil millionaire ( you're all Texas oil millionaires aren't you? ) would buy one, after all some art works like a white painted canvas have sold for millions.
Most art has no function but that's a debating subject.
Roy's boards have function and Roy would argue superb function.
I think he is aiming at the Russian oil barons and bored Gulf oil magnates myself. True art's ( whatever that is) price is whatever the punter is prepared to pay and I imagine Roy will never go to a"fire"sale. Idle speculation Roy but fun none the less
Remember ask and you shall receive.

May I suggest expressing the price as a percentage of the disposable income of the richest million people in the world and doing the same with a board of regular price and a buyer of average income?

So true :!:
I'd rather them buy a flotilla of your boards than continuing to buy arms to enforce their Plutocracies.

One thing we can be absolutely sure of, is that there will never be Chinese pop outs of any Roy's boards

Roy . . . I have to contend with you here on price and expertise (for the first time ever); I make [dare I say] better and more appreciated full spec' ocean riding boards from approved F1 (Formula one race car) sanctioned materials. Your charge herein of $417.000 for your 'board as described above is fantastical (I thought my off the wall performance £GBP22,000 F1 carbons embellished with gold and diamonds were high end). However as I don’t know how much time and effort and of course expertise is involved, maybe just maybe your price is justified. I now need to seek a reason to build and charge for a carbon akin to the spec of your own high end ‘board. As we say in Wales; Hwy’l i Chi [kinda like ‘all our best to your everything’].
I am beginning to hate you  .

I actually feel so much better about Roy and your high end boards than I do about falsely designer label ordinary boards that are priced up with a Gucci, Chanel or Dior label to about $6000 just based on the logo glassed in .
I appreciate the work that goes into Roy's craft ( both meanings meant) and I like Roy, ask that you post some of your high end boards so we can admire your craft!

jaffa1949 : My start-up was this [not quite a longboard but you get the idea]; Simply google pocketboard (or pocket board). Let me know where it is listed on google for you. Where I am it appears first!. ( I still have a few tee shirts too!) . . . . you should see pocketboard_co-uk . . . I reckon Roy might be persuaded to buy one off me (I’m gonna try one day, I’m gonna try!).

I found your site easily, several days ago and I thought you might be interested in what is happening in OZ.

So you can see similar ideas are cropping up everywhere.

Good images and vid above . . . my pocketboard is a bit of a folly, but fully and legally registered in name and shape to me! I have totally enjoyed it in the ocean over the past few years and shall continue to do so.
I trust nobody will try to import a similar product into the UK nor Europe as I’ll have to tell then not to or else!
In truth (sorry longboard thread _ hang ten for a mo) I was looking to build a full carbon longboard but I lost my car so had to go surfing by bus - the pocketboard was the natural choice!
For my carbon longboards I have both a size and weight in mind (they will be akin to a 1960’s (French) Hossegor / Biarritz big wave down the line gun I have) and I aim to make a couple after the ‘pool season is over here in the Uk - hopefully for next year.
In the meantime I have developed a cleaning product that vaporises odours and pathogens where no other cleaner can . . . but that’s another topic!
