Thank you oldmansurfer/proner! I am not gentle on my things. Fibreglass might have been a mistake but here goes.

Kauai, I’ve visited twice (Haena). What a place, you are lucky to live there!

Btw, it keeps blocking my photos due to third party sharing (which I thought I fixed...). I couldn’t figure out the forums gallery, how do people post photos?

you can post directly to the forum using the full editor which you can get to with the post reply button there are a couple steps to posting a image first to find and upload it then to place it in line. I thought you said you were ok with fiberglass? It's not that hard unless you have epoxy resin then you need to sand a lot.
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

I have had 2 other glass boards (used, a shortboard and a funboard) and have done repairs on them (one was a major repair after the centre fin was ripped out with half the foam). I’ve helped build and have repaired fibreglass punts and a canoe as well. I’ve worked with West Systems epoxy mostly. My primary board for 7 years has been/is an epoxy southpoint. It took a lot of internal convincing to buy this board and within a month I’ve damaged it twice... 9’6” is a lot of board to have swinging around ;)

Sounds like it should be within your capabilities to fix. I think rail dings are the most important because they are the most likely to get repeat damage and the rail by the nose seems to be particularly easily damaged so making stronger repairs in those areas is more important is my opinion. So did you surf in Haena?

We surfed Hanalei Bay each visit. I live in Atlantic Canada so it’s a rare summer day you can surf without a wetsuit here. I live in a 4/3 half the year and a 5/4 the rest. The warm water is amazing! Last time we spent some time on the big island and took a lesson on a spongetop near kona. They wouldn’t rent us an epoxy... got the vibe people exaggerate their abilities when they rent boards because they seemed genuinely surprised that I wasn’t totally without skill on that crappy board ;)

Had a much better time in Kauai

I did that today down in Portugal with my 9'2 nose rider. Took off on what appeared to be a standard 6ft roller when BAM...turned into the steepest wave I've ever had the misfortune to eat xxxxx on  stood up in the 3ft of water that was drained by the wave and my board had snapped in two. Walked back to the car with my board pieces under my arms like a champ, like "yeah I took a 9ft log out in 5-8ft hollow waves. Whatcha gonna do" coupla grommets on the beach who had seen me catch a couple just stared at me in disbelief as I strolled on by, high as a mofo and feeling like a boss
