new respect for longboarding

first a bit of history on my past experiances. the first few time i gave longboarding a try i couldn't turn the thing. hated the fact that i could only go straight. then later after shortboarding i could turn it a little. at this point i was ready to give it up entirerly. but then summer came and we've only been getting these small 1-2 foot days and so i've been out of the water for about a week. so i took out this 9'8 nose rider, first time on a board with such a large fin, didn't think i was going to be able to turn the darn thing. took about five waves to figure things out, but then i was able to turn it down the line, throw in a cutback here and there, and for the first time ever walk to the nose and put five piggies over. needless to say i was great longboarding experience, ended up buying the board, taking it out again today. i guess this is for any shortboarder who thinks that longboarding is beneath them, if you get the right board for the right day then it works out great. well i guess that's my story, hope you enjoy, of course this means that you now have to contend with another longboarder.

went out again yesterday, had a great time, doing it again today. i love being able to go out and just not care and just have a good time. tried to go skags first, i was able to get up and ride it but never ended up turning around go too intimidate,so i ended up riding all the way with my skag forward and out of the water. is there an easy way to do this or do i just need to grit my teeth and do it?

Yeah one thing I know in my young surfing career. Shortboards and longboards are different as far as what you can do on each one. Each has it's own style and each has its strengths and weakness as far as different things you can do. Two different worlds. What's wrong with being good on both?

ya been going to san o alot the past few days, and been going to trails for the past year, love surfing there.

Got a buddy that's hot on the trails. I've never been, I get enough cliff climbing at Sunset Cliffs, but that doesn't mean I don't want to give it a go. She says the waves there are always uncrowded and seem to have better shape than the other local breaks. Do you concur with that finding?

the only time i've ever seen it crowded was on the $th of july, and even then it was less than anywhee else, so yes. if it wasn't as long of a walk i would longboard there alot more, i still take the shortboard over. i would suggest giving it a go. what trails does she surf.
