BTW, I'm converted.....used the straw as a shim couple of days ago.....clean, nice and tight, no sticky tape residue - worked perfectly.....after shimming the center fin I chopped one in half and stuck them in under the side bites and cured the crookedness I had previously....nice and tight as well.............had a 100pack for the kids in the cupboard, took 10pcs and stuck them in my surf toolbox in the back of the car. Thanks WKK!

Posted this pic in another thread but you can see the futures system (stretch copy) side bites aren't dipping down in the front like they had been now that I dropped a half a straw in the slot lengthwise before putting the fin in.

The blue straw in my pic is from IKEA that came in a big bag of them. But I said to use a McDonalds straw just so we can remember to "RePurpose" things. Interesting thing, on Waikiki beach they don't allow the food vendor to provide straws or lids in drinks. it so they don't end up in the sand or in a poor turtle.

Wish I could say the same for here....especially apparent now during the rainy season.....come to think of it, no need to bring my own straws; like taking sand to the beach..............

Thanks guys, I found that the fcs shims did bugger all in my scenario but the straw definitely helped to wedge the fin in there.
I've now got both shims under the fin and the straw in there and seems to have a snug fit.
I think the back end of the box must've been shaved down a bit to meet the boards tail rocker
