Opinion about BIc

What about Long Bic Ace tec '9. IT's cheap, ut Is it good or does it suck?
For surfer level beginner - intermediate. Mediterrean waves (low ).

They are great and last forever. Then are not for advanced surfers who have specific requirements, but for a beginner that is going to drop and bump it all over the place they are indestructible

In your beginner opinion what makes a board "good" ? Can it perform up to the task of a beginner-intermediate, i would say "Yes".

Does it suck ? What makes a board "suck" ? Like any board ( skate, snow, surf ) it's usually the rider not the boards fault.

I like the newer Bic's than the older Bic with the visible sandwich mold line around the perimeter of the board.

at same price i can buy a second hand tradinional longboard or this bic.

i'm a beginner, but i tried different longs and i can feel the difference (surface, manoeuvrability, weight...). if you play a fender guitar, you realize that you are not playing a shity guitar. so i dont want a longboard - "fender", but neither a floating catafalque.

BIc long here is 450 euros, whereas a good II hand long aprox. 350. does this bic deserve this expense?

So to clarify your original question, ( which is different now with more info )

Is a BIC Ace tec 9' at 450 euros, worth it compared to a good 2nd hand/used longboard at 350 euros ?

If you can feel the difference in the ride, I would go with the used board. Save that 100 euros to put into the following board once your progress out of the first one.

Or the best situation is to find a 2nd hand BIC board.

Got a second hand bic for 180, freakin love it!! It is indestructible. I still bust it out to play in small waves or if I'm trying to learn/hone a specific skill, don't think I'll ever chuck it.

Ive learned to surf on a 7'3'' minimal from bic and its amazing, its shape make it stable and fast than usual longboards, can catch a lot of waves even white water. the rocker makes it good to steeper waves, i pearled some times in some head high waves because i was still much a beginner xD (bad positioning and slow paddling) now i can drop from top to bottom very good and ride the wave. About duck diving im beginner and i can pass through the waves its hard but possible, im 183cm high and weight 70kg. it floats a lot with me but i still can manage to duck dive.

I ave a BiC 9'4 Nat Young Model, I love it. I ride it a lot...

Pros: - it will last longer than a lot of us; - easy to paddle; - catches any wave; - fast down the line (I only use single fin). Cons: - super heavy; - catches waves you dont want to catch ( I broke 3 leash's in the first month or so); - a bit difficult to turn, but with the right skills you can do it anyway (the surfer makes the board); - it will last longer than a lot of us, it will come a day when you just wish the board brakes, it will not

Sooooo: as a beginner, buy the BiC, it will teach you a lot (as it did me), and it will last forever, its the perfect board to travel (it will break a plane in half), and start saving money so u can go to a shaper and have a costum board (that's what I prefer anyways) ....

P.S. I surf in North of Portugal.
