Duckdiving advice

Postby mattyp76 » Thu Jul 28, 2005 6:35 pm

I have just trade my 9'1 in for a 9'3 and it has heaps more foam than the 9'1. I could duck dive any waves on the 9'1 but i get smashed even by small waves on the bigger board. Any advice how to get under the bigger waves? I see some guys roll and i tried this on small waves and it seems to hold you in the wave which is no good.

crikey duckdiving on a longboard? sometimes i cant even duckdive my 6'7. i think if you could do it on the other board then youve got a chance on the bigger one so its worth practicin but if you just cant do it then ur gonna have to roll.

what i do is i roll, then pull the nose down so the wave rolls over the board, and u wont get dragged as much.

also helps if you sit up really high then jump up and kinda fall and flip your board at the same time, and it gets you farther under at first, then when the wave is above you push up on the nose to try to get out behind it.

works for me, what also works on a longboard is just pushing up and pushing your board under the wave and you riding over the top, it works in about anything under three feet.(or for 'fun' ranked waves by sinasta)
