Bought a Firewire SubMoon 8'2

Postby Z mann R2 » Sat Jun 28, 2014 6:32 pm

Some of you have read my post on the Stewart Redline 9'0 I bought recently. Well I now sold my Robert August 9'0 (slow, heavy, didn't like it at all) and purchased the Firewire Submoon in the 8'2 size and the TimberTek construction to go along with my new Stewart. I ordered a large future fin quad setup for it. I'm very interested as to how this board will surf. I'll post pics and review as soon as I can. It's been ordered online so should take a week to come in. Here's what it will look like though:

and here is a good video reviewing it on YouTube:

Looks nice. Its an interesting shape - the longboard length but the rails are never quite parallel, so more of a shortboard outline almost. Or at least a hyrbrid/funboard. Should make turning easier. Now only 7 or 9 more boards before you will have an ok quiver... :-D

I am interested to hear how you think it goes against the more traditional Stewart board you also bought

I guess I can list the rest of my quiver lol:

6'0 Superbrand Vapors. An amazing short board with a slight filler outline and is a 5 fin convertible. I ride it as a quad and love it on chest+ high days. My absolute pride and joy

7'6 NSP fun shape I bought purely for buddies to ride so they don't damage my boards

A gordon n smith 1960-70 egg. A classic board that's fun to ride on occasion for a little throwback fun

A locally shaped 6'4 shortboards purely for hurricane surf (hosanna is the brand)

A thin and short 6'0 rusty mid
90's shortboards with insane nose rocker....gonna be a good grom board for my kids

And lastly, a Surf RX shortboards. No idea where I found that. Somehow I think a buddy left it behind or something. I use it for wall art now.

My dad has about 15 or so boards as well. Can't go thru all those but he's got a sexy Lightning Bolt from the 80's in there that I love!

Ok, guess you already have the quiver!

I can see that if you are surfing a 6ft quad, the Robert August would be a bit of a shock to the system.

Ya that Robert August was just so lethargic.....I love the feeling of longboarding but just hated how heavy it was.

I'll always have a shortboard and now I'll always have a longboard. I love both worlds equally.

Just realized autocorrect made me put "shortboards" instead of "shortboard" lol
