Paragon surfboards

Ratings from you guys?

Good for the money?

Or are there better options?

I know it's epoxy, which doesn't seem to be popular amongst the pro's.

But for a new guy who's buying his first board, would it be a smart buy?

I'm looking at the new ones for both the 7'8" (~$395) and the 9'0" ($435) and leaning towards the 9'0" for faster learning purposes....

But am a little concerned about the 9 footer on top of my little 4 door ford focus...

Any advice whatsoever would be greatly appreciated

There are so many board manufacturers that getting opinions on a particular one one is a bit hard. That said, the 9ft modern noserider looks like a fine board for a beginner. The fact is that, as a beginner, the board could be 50% 'as good' as another board and you wont even realise for quite a while (not saying that the paragon boards are only 50% as good, just that trying to get 'the best' board when you are a beginner is a bit pointless as you wont be able to use that board anywhere near its performance level anyway).

The price looks fine, dont worry about epoxy, its a personal thing. I prefer 'traditional' but I suspect thats because its all I have ever surfed apart from a few rental boards. Ignore what the pros think, what they use and what you use (and what I use) are barely even the same sport.

You arent going to get any better without a board! Just buy it - buty, yet, the 9ft one is the way to go, in xxx months or years (9 months or 3 years, depending on your skills and frequency of surfing etc) then you can think about another board if you want to go shorter or whatever. But starting on that other board is the wrong way to go - need to learn before you can advance.

If your ford focus is the same as the one we have in Australia - which I think it is - then shouldnt be a problem. Get some proper roof racks and go for it.
