2+1 Fin Setup

Postby AtlSurfGirl » Fri Oct 02, 2009 5:34 pm

Hi All! I am new to the forum. Been surfing for a few years, but just starting longboarding. I recently picked up a 9' Pearson Arrow with a 2+1 fin configuration. The board is mint, but the fins are shot. Would like to keep the tri-fin set-up, but looking for input on what sizes and types of fins others recommend. Most of my surfing is done here on the east coast of florida...2'-3' if i'm lucky, but at least the water is warm...

There are two sizes of sidebites, GL and GX, GL being the smallest, which is what you want for small waves, or take them off entirely so that you can get more glide.

As to the center fin, if you want more turn get a cutaway, if you want more flide and thrust get a long rake or hatchet fin. Here is my favorite place to get fins, partially cause they are local and I just go in and pick them up, but they will talk to you on the phone and suggest the best one for your needs.

Lastly, get a pretty fin, your favorite color or one that matches, makes a huge difference that you like how your board looks :)
