Surfing Waves

Hey guys,
Im looking to buy a shortboard or something similar, but ive ridden a Mal for the last four years and dont want to make a huge mistake so i thought id seek some advice with the forum.

Ive been looking at a few boards, for example, the "Mark Phipps" 6'10" Mini Gun, 6'10" Rusty Pirahna or a 6'10" Channel Island M13. Ive always favoured a slightly bigger board as im 6'2 and about 12.5 stone, but i just want something a little more fun than my cumbersome 7'2 Bic Mal.

Im a fairly competant intermediate and want to make that step into shortboards without having to wrestle with a stick, if anyone has been through a similar transition or has any thoughts as to the types or specific boards i should be looking at then id be really appreciative of the advice .

anywhere from 6'6-6,10' should do fine but dont go for a gun rather stick to a tradtional shortboard.
