Surfing Waves

so i was browsing through my magazine, and there es a sequence of this guy who does a double pump to a barrel.
I really want to know how to do a double pump because it will get me up so early!

What i think you have to do so far:
paddle fast
get up and somewhat push down on your board.
push down again and ride into the wave??
help!

Doing that won't get you into the wave earlier because once you have popped up early you will have lost the wave. If the wave foams over you can kind of pump your board into or kind of bounce on your board to get down the wave.
This is similar to what your talking about.
