Hi All

I have been longboarding for about two years, and have bought a fish 6´3 and i can´t get up standing on the board.

I am used to a 9´6 but have tried 8´2 which also worked out fine for me.

Should I sell the 6´3 fish and go for something in between a 8´2 and 6´3 or should I just keep up and learn eventually?

Im 6´2 high and weigh about 165. I usually ride in small waves no more than head heigh.

Hope you can help me

Chris

I'd say going from 9+ to a fish is a huge step. Something like a funshape might suit you better, and would help you progress on to shorter boards.

I tried surfing a 6' fish over christmas, as i didn't have my minimal with me....and it was just frustrating, knackering to paddle and made me look like a complete lemon.

They are really different... you should see me on phil's longboard, or phil on my fish

If you give it another go....
You need to take-off much later.
You need your head right over the nose of the board.
Make sure your feet are out of the water too.
Pop-up straight away - dont be tempted to ride down the face lying down, or get into the white water, it wont work!!
Once you're standing - keep moving! Pump pump, turn turn, pump pump

aye very different. i cant ride a longboard for all the money in the world. love my 5'11 shortboard though. stick at it you might get the hang of it. havent seen drowning on a longboard (unfortunately) bt watching him take late drops can be pretty funny too if i remember right.

Thanks for the answers.

I´ll give it another try, and use the tips.

If it does not work out I might go for the funshape.

Great with the quick response.

Blimey Denmark, and i thought it was cold over here in the UK.

You have chosen a huge drop in board size, why not keep the 6'3'' but get maybe 7' FatBoy, loads of width and volume, or even a 7'3'' or 7'6'' Mal, sure you'll soon be down on the fish
