migrating from longboard

[tautologies]

hey I have been riding longboards for a while, but as I am migrating to shortboards I have problems popping up as I am used to using my toes to help with the popup...I'm 6'1'' and old

I've got this 6'6'' hybrid short / longboard looks like a longboard, but is a shortboard for a nice price....easy paddle, but very wide. Feels fast turning.
